Their smell is gentle, floral, and pleasant, similar to other lightly perfumed garden flowers. The leaves of the henna plant smell quite different. When dried, they have an earthy, herb-like aroma with notes that can remind you of hay or dried plants. This scent becomes stronger when the powdered leaves are mixed with water or other ingredients, the same way they are prepared when making traditional henna paste.
