In ancient Kerala, bundles of dried lemongrass were burned in household shrines to cleanse the air before prayer — one of the earliest recorded uses of lemongrass as incense. Portuguese traders arriving on the Malabar Coast in the 16th century were among the first to bring it westward, initially as a medicinal curiosity before its aromatic qualities won it a place in European apothecaries and, eventually, perfumery.

Crafted from pure botanical ingredients sourced in South India, this is a genuinely clean-burning incense — low smoke, no synthetic fragrance oils, no charcoal base. What you smell is the plant itself, nothing added. Pairs exceptionally well with frankincense for a citrus-resin balance, or with sandalwood for a warmer, more grounded profile.

Each pack contains 15 grams of hand-crafted premium Masala incense. Average burn time: 40–45 minutes per stick. Made with precious natural resins, pure essential oils and fine absolutes.

All our incense is sold by weight (15g) rather than stick count. Because of this, the number of sticks in each pack may vary.
